was founded with a purpose: To equip all women and girls – including those seeking to rebuild their confidence after past experiences – with the skills and confidence to defend themselves in dangerous situations. Glasgow United Krav Maga is proud to deliver this mission to our community.
We are part of United Krav Maga World Organisation, a leading provider of self-defence training in the area. We have schools internationally, who teach this same course over in England, France, Poland, Cyprus and Mexico. The course has been designed by combat specialists along with psychologists with direct experience in assisting those dealing with abuse, domestic violence and stalking. To date, we have trained over 300 women in the local area.
Our 6-week course teaches you practical self-defence skills in various scenarios. We begin by focusing on de-escalation and avoidance, and then move on to dealing with situations when confrontation is unavoidable. You will learn how to address common attacks targeted at women, with easy to apply solutions under pressure, including:
Grabs
Slaps/Punches
Safe falling after being pulled to the ground
Attempted purse snatching
Dealing with multiple aggressors
Dealing with armed aggressors
We will also help you understand and manage your fear and build inner strength and courage. The course also covers the legal aspects of self-defence and explores the psychology of both attackers and victims.
This course is suitable for every age and ability. If you have any limitations, don’t worry! we can make accommodations.

Our women’s self-defence course is designed as a single-sex, trauma-informed training space created specifically for women who choose to learn in an environment focused on privacy, emotional safety, and confidence-building. These courses involve close physical partner work, realistic scenario training, and discussions around personal safety, boundaries, and experiences of gender-based violence. Many participants attend specifically because they would not feel able to fully engage in a mixed or alternative training environment. To preserve the purpose and integrity of this course, participation is offered in accordance with our single-sex course policy. We are committed to inclusion across our wider community and offer inclusive mixed-gender classes and private training options for anyone who does not meet the eligibility criteria for this specific course. If you are unsure which class is most suitable, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
